Lea S. Eiland, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCPPS, FASHP, FPPA is a Clinical Professor and Associate Department Head of Pharmacy Practice with Auburn University Harrison College of Pharmacy and a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics with the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, Huntsville Regional Medical Campus.

Dr. Eiland joined the Auburn faculty in August 2002. She teaches in the areas of Pediatrics, Drugs in Pregnancy and Lactation, Infectious Disease, and Leadership. She practiced for 10 years at the Huntsville Hospital Women and Children in the general pediatric inpatient setting. From 2012-14, she practiced in the UAB Health Center Huntsville Pediatric Clinic and remains a consultant to this practice. She also has experience in the outpatient sickle cell clinic and pediatric ICU. Her interests include infectious disease and neurology.

Dr. Eiland graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2001. She completed an ASHP-accredited pediatric specialty residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at Amarillo in 2002. In 2004, Dr. Eiland became a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and in 2015, she became a Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist.

In 2022, Dr. Eiland received the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Pediatric Pharmacy SIG Excellence in Teaching in Pediatric Pharmacy Award. She also has received the Pediatric Pharmacy Association Scholarship of Teaching Award twice. Dr. Eiland was recognized as the 2019 Graduate of the 1980’s Pharmacy Fellow from the Harrison College of Pharmacy. She was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Harrison College of Pharmacy in 2016 and has received the Preceptor of Excellence award four times. She was the recipient of the Harrison College of Pharmacy Hargreaves Faculty Mentor Award in 2005.

Dr. Eiland was honored with the Merck Pharmacist Achievement Award and the Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists Pharmacist of the Year Award in 2008. She participated in the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy’s (AACP) Academic Leadership Fellows Program during the 2008-09 year (Cohort 5). In May 2015, she received the Presidential Citation Award from the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group.

In 2009, Dr. Eiland received the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy Leadership Award and The University of Texas College of Pharmacy Distinguished Young Alumnus Award. In 2012, she was awarded Fellow by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and in 2015, she was recognized as Fellow by the Pediatric Pharmacy Association.

Dr. Eiland is active in several national pharmacy organizations including the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), Pediatric Pharmacy Association (PPA), American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), and American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). She currently serves on the PPA Board of Directors and continues involvement in the ASHP, AACP, and ACCP.

Dr. Eiland is a past member of the ASHP Board of Directors, past Director-at-Large of the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Educators Executive Committee, past Chair and Director-at-Large of the ASHP Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists Executive Committee, and past Chair of the ASHP Council on Education and Workforce Development. She also is a Past President of the Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists. In PPA, she served as the PPA SIG Coordinator, Vice President of Membership Services, and a member of the PPAG Board of Directors.

Dr. Eiland remains an active speaker and presents her clinical and educational research at national and state pharmacy meetings. She has authored original research articles, review articles, and book chapters related to pediatric pharmacotherapy and the scholarship of teaching and learning. She is an author and Senior Editor of PPA’s textbook, Advanced Pediatric Therapeutics. Dr. Eiland was the Pediatric Section Editor and then Managing Editor of PharmPrep, ASHP’s NAPLEX® Review, authored and edited ASHP’s Infectious Disease Pharmacotherapy Self-Assessment, and served as an author and Section Editor of ACCP’s Pediatric Pharmacotherapy 1st edition textbook. Dr. Eiland received an Auburn Author Award in 2016 from the Auburn University Graduate School and Auburn University Libraries for her textbook publications.

Erika L. Kleppinger, Pharm.D., BCPS is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. Since joining the faculty at the Harrison School of Pharmacy in 2003, she has practiced in several ambulatory care practice settings, coordinated and taught in a variety of skills laboratory activities, and worked passionately on curriculum development and revision.

Dr. Kleppinger graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in 2001 with a doctor of pharmacy degree. After graduation, she completed two years of post-graduate residency training – a Pharmacy Practice residency at Temple University Hospital and a Primary Care specialty residency at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in association with the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. In 2003, Dr. Kleppinger became a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) and from 2006-2016 she was a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE).

During the first seven years after joining the faculty of HSOP, Dr. Kleppinger practiced as a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist at the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS), managing patients with diabetes and lipid abnormalities. Additionally she practiced as a Clinical Pharmacist in the Auburn University Pharmaceutical Care Center (AUPCC) for two years assisting with wellness screenings and medication management education.

Currently Dr. Kleppinger dedicates most of her time to skills activity coordination and assessment with Objective Structured Clinical Exams (OSCEs) and other performance-based assessments. She teaches in many areas of the Practice-Ready Curriculum, including patient assessment skills, communication skills (specifically assessing patient understanding and new prescription counseling), the pharmacists’ patient care process, self-care, dermatology, cough and cold management, and immunization certification training. She also serves as a Skills Coordinator and a Learning Experience Coordinator for the first professional year of the PharmD program.

She was honored with the Preceptor of Excellence Award for the Auburn/Montgomery Region in both 2006 and 2010, Outstanding Teacher Award for the Harrison School of Pharmacy in 2010, and the Harrison School of Pharmacy WOW Award in 2014. Her outreach efforts include coordinating the Resident Teaching and Learning Program (RTLP) offered by the Harrison School of Pharmacy to pharmacy residents across three states, mentoring pharmacy residents in various teaching activities, and assisting with the creation and implementation of a summer Pharmacy Camp for high school students.

Dr. Kleppinger is active in the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). She has served on several committees within the Section of Teachers of Pharmacy Practice and the Council of Faculties. She is also an active member and previous chair of the Laboratory Instructors Special Interest Group within AACP and has been invited to present on several skills-based topics.

Pamela L. Stamm, Pharm.D., CDE, BCPS, BCACP, FASHP, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. She received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Saint Louis College of Pharmacy in St. Louis, Missouri. She subsequently attended the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina to complete her Doctor of Pharmacy degree. She rounded off her formal training by completing an ASHP-accredited Primary Care Residency at The Medical Center and Lakeland Family Practice, Jackson, Mississippi. She joined the faculty of Auburn University’s James I. Harrison School of Pharmacy in 1997.

Dr. Stamm has been responsible for various primary care topics within the curriculum throughout her career at Auburn. Currently she utilizes active learning methods to teach migraine, osteoporosis, and stable ischemic heart disease therapy within the practice ready curriculum. She also assists in immunization practicals and journal analyses.

She provides Advanced Practice Experiences (APPE) and Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) in Ambulatory Care within the Central Alabama Veteran's Health Care System where she is privileged with prescriptive authority to provide comprehensive care management for patients. Her scope of practice is broad including but not limited to areas such as Diabetes, Dyslipidemia, Hypertension, Gout, Thyroid, Neuropathic pain, Heart Failure, and Smoking Cessation. She is also Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy and Ambulatory Care Pharmacotherapy as well as Immunization Certified. Her research areas include, SOAP documentation, using video to improve learning, assessing and improving student intervention documentation, and career portfolio development.

Dr. Stamm remains active on the state and national level in several professional societies. She is active within the Alabama Society of Health System Pharmacists, currently serving as co-chair of the Student / Resident Activities Committee and as a member of the Research and Scholarship Committee.

Nationally, she serves on the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioner’s Medication Therapy Management Special Advisory Group and the Foundation’s Forecast Advisory Committee. She also serves on American College of Clinical Pharmacy’s (ACCP) Educational Affairs B Task Force, on the Education and Training Practice and Research Network’s Professional Affairs Committee, and as faculty for the ACCP Teaching and Learning Academy.

Dr. Lynn Stevenson is an Associate Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Executive Director of Experiential Programs within Clinical Affairs and Outreach.

She grew up in southern middle Tennessee and received a full scholarship to play basketball at Auburn University (1986-91). A four-year letter winner with the Auburn women's basketball team, she helped the Tigers to three-straight NCAA Final Fours from 1988-90. Stevenson completed a B.S. in Pharmacy in 1992 and Doctor of Pharmacy in 1994 from Auburn University. Following graduation, she completed an ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency at The Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia. She is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.

She has practiced as a clinical pharmacy specialist for Huntsville Hospital System in Huntsville, Alabama and as a Clinical Pharmacist for Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Columbus, Georgia. Prior to joining the faculty of HSOP in January 2007, she served the previous four years as Outpatient Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator for Columbus Regional Healthcare System.

As Executive Director of Experiential Programs for HSOP, Stevenson is responsible for direction of the Office of Experiential Programs Office (EPO) which includes the experiential curriculum, interprofessional education and the co-curriculum. The EPO team is responsible for coordinating student pharmacist training in various practice settings in the P1-P4 years. Lynn works closely with the EPO team, HSOP faculty and affiliate faculty to provide student pharmacists with the best possible training experiences.

Stevenson was the recipient of the inaugural HSOP Pinnacle Award in 2019. The Pinnacle Award is given to a HSOP Faculty or Staff member who exemplifies the School’s core values of “Inspiration, Innovation, and Transformation.” Before becoming a faculty member with HSOP in 2007, she was honored by the school as Preceptor of the Year in 2001. She also received the 2006 Community Service Award from the Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
